Ingredients

  • Rolled oats – 80g
  • Milk – 480mL
  • Cocoa powder – 30g
  • Sugar – 20g

Procedures

  1. Pour the milk into a medium saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add the rolled oats to the warm milk, stirring immediately to ensure they are well-distributed.
  3. Reduce the heat to low to prevent the milk from scorching or boiling over the sides of the pan.
  4. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently to create a creamy texture and to keep the milk from sticking to the bottom.
  5. Sift the cocoa powder into the mixture (or whisk it in vigorously) to prevent any bitter chocolate clumps from forming.
  6. Add the sugar and stir continuously until both the cocoa and sugar are fully dissolved into the oats.
  7. Continue to simmer for 1–2 minutes until the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and the mixture is a deep, uniform chocolate color.
  8. Check the consistency—if the oats are too thick, stir in a small splash of extra milk until the porridge is silky.
  9. Remove from heat once the oats are tender and the chocolate aroma is strong.
  10. Serve warm in a bowl, perhaps topped with a few fresh berries or a dollop of peanut butter.
